Sons of the Citadel
The Dothraki are nomadic horselords that ply the whole of central Essos from the eastern border of the Kingdom of Sarnor to the Bone Mountains, and from the Red Waste in the south to the Forest of New Ib in the north. This vast grassland is known as the Dothraki sea, and upon it the rule of the Dothraki Khalasars is absolute. The Dothraki live simple lives, valuing strength and horsemanship above all other things. It is likely advantageous for the rest of Essos that they seem unable to unite under a single Khal, or they might conquer the entire continent. As it is, they fight amongst themselves as often as they fight anyone else. Though rare Dothraki leave the Sea to adventure alone or serve as mercenaries, most are sworn to serve one Khal or another by the time they become men, and spend the entirety of their short lives doing just that.
Dothraki “screamers,” as their warriors are often known, are unmatched in equestrian warfare, and their shortbows and arakh are well-suited to their style of fighting. They enter into battle whooping war cries and with bells jingling in their hair, and are bloodthirsty and ruthless enough in victory that just the dust cloud signaling the arrival of a khalasar at a city is usually incentive for the rulers of that city to assemble a “gift” of treasure or slaves in order to convince the Dothraki to leave them unmolested.
